The positive impact of the coronavirus on the metrics of mobile games was revealed by Sensor Tower. Last March was recognized as the best month in terms of installations and user expenses in Europe in history.
According to Sensor Tower, in March, Europeans downloaded games to their smartphones 1.2 billion times and spent $740 million on them. Here the firm includes, among other things, data on Russia.
Income
- In comparison with January, the spending of European users on mobile in March increased by 6%;
- in comparison with February — by 12%.
- in annual terms — by 22%.
Note that in 2019, user spending from January to March increased by 2%, and from February to March — by 9%.
Installations
- Compared to January, mobile game installations in Europe increased by 4%;
- in comparison with February — by 19%.
Let’s look at the dynamics of January-March and February-March 2019. In the first case, installations increased by 9%, in the second — decreased by 9%.
Thus, in March 2020, revenue growth was not as significant as the growth of installations.
We should add that thanks to the COVID-19 quarantine, metrics have grown not only in Europe. In China and South Korea, for example, installations took off in February.
