The president of Nintendo Tatsumi Kimishima (Tatsumi Kimishima) said that the revenue from sales of Super Mario Run on iOS “did not meet their expectations.”

The reason for this is the Super Mario Run business model, all the content of which is available to users for a single payment of $ 10. Another Nintendo mobile title, the strategic role—playing game Fire Emblem Heroes, uses the more common “frituplay with in-app purchases” scheme.

But Nintendo is in no hurry to completely switch to frituplay. “Heroes stand apart. To be honest, we like the Mario model more,” representatives of the Japanese company said.

The next Nintendo mobile game will be Animal Crossing. It is not yet known exactly how it will be monetized.

Super Mario Run was downloaded by 90 million people, in two weeks the game brought developers $ 30 million.
