The gaming part of the holding Mail.ru Group — MY.GAMES — has announced its plans to buy a controlling stake in Panzerdog. Earlier, the investment division of the group, MRGV, invested € 800 thousand in the studio.
Tacticool
The fact that MY.GAMES is going to acquire Panzerdog became known today, May 30.
However, the specific amount of the transaction was not named.
Alexey Sazonov, co-founder and head of Panzerdog, said that after the sale of the controlling stake, the management of the studio will remain independent: “With the addition of Panzerdog, it will not just remain a developer and publisher with independent management, but will also preserve its unique culture.”
He also notes that the deal will not only accelerate the development of the studio’s only game Tacticool*, but also to put into production work on new, as yet unannounced projects.
*For reference, the monthly earnings of Tacticool, which is a mobile command isometric PvP action, is about $600 thousand, according to DataMagic estimates.
Panzerdog, founded in 2016, now has two offices. One is in Helsinki, the other is in Kaliningrad. A total of 30 people work in the studio.
For Mail.ru Group (albeit today in the person of MY.GAMES) is not the first takeover of a third—party studio after an investment round. A year ago, the group acquired a 51% stake in BIT.GAMES. This happened after the authors of the “Guild of Heroes” received investments from MRGV for the development of the game.
