In the rivalry between Fortnite and PUBG on the mobile market, the Epic Games project is still confidently winning. Fortnite Mobile has half as many downloads, but five times more revenue than its competitor.
The indicators of the two royal battles on mobile were compared by analysts from SensorTower. They took the period from mid-March, when the mobile versions were launched, to June 24.
The main starting advantage of Fortnite Mobile was that the game came out with a well-established monetization scheme, thanks to which it received a consistently high income from the very launch:
The total revenue of Fortnite Mobile is five times higher than that of the Bluehole title
In turn, the mobile PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, unlike its competitor, was released not only on iOS, but also on Android.
This allowed her to quickly get ahead in terms of downloads:
Epic Games cannot compete with PUBG Mobile in terms of the number of downloads
Also, according to SensorTower’s findings, games receive the main revenue from different markets.
Fortnite Mobile shows itself well in the American market:
More than half of the revenue of the Epic Games project comes from the USA
PUBG Mobile gets its main revenue from the Asian market:
The share of revenue from Asia for the Bluehole game is noticeably higher
Note that the SensorTower data is presented without taking into account the too opaque Chinese market.
At the same time, part of the revenue from both titles is received by the Chinese giant Tencent – the company owns shares in Epic Games and publishes PUBG Mobile.
In addition, analysts’ calculations end on June 24. This means that the statistics include only one week after PUBG launched the sale of season tickets. And this was a turning point for PUBG, it increased its revenue by 365%.
So it’s premature to draw final conclusions about the rivalry between the two titles.
