Magic Leap has announced an additional Series D investment round after receiving $502 million from Singapore’s Temasek state fund in October last year.

At the end of December last year, the company first demonstrated the appearance of an augmented reality headset by releasing a series of 3D renderers with the design of the device.

Magic Leap promises to start selling the Creators Edition version of the headset for developers this year. According to Bloomberg, the cost of one set will be from $ 1.5 to $ 2 thousand.

The principle of operation of the Magic Leap headset is based on the technology of projecting images onto the retina of the eye. According to the creators, the headset’s processor performance is comparable to a gaming laptop.

The company began work on the headset in 2011. Such giants of the technology industry as Google, AliBaba and Qualcomm have invested in the project.
