Digital collectible card games (CCI) are not the fastest growing gaming segment. Five years ago, their global revenue was $1.3 billion. This year, this figure will reach $1.5 billion. However, the analytical company Superdata is confident that the growth rate of the genre will increase in the future.

The company’s specialists claim in their latest report that, despite the popularity of real CCIs, digital ones will be able to earn $2 billion by the end of 2020. For comparison, the VR segment earned more last year – $3.7 billion (although this is taking into account hardware, software accounted for $ 1 billion).

In addition to the optimistic forecast, SuperData also shared data on the digital CCI market in the United States. According to her estimate, the audience of the CCI in the States is now from 12 to 14 million people. The annual revenue received from them last year amounted to $ 348 million, but this year it should reach $414 million.

Audience of digital CCIs in the USA
The latter is partly due to the fact that more and more players are spending time at KKI on mobile devices.

Frituplay monetization and convenient online match-making also allows them to eat off a share of real collections.

SuperData calls Hearthstone the most popular CCI in America. Over the past three months, half of the players in digital collectible card games have played it at least once. It is also actively watched. 33% of the genre’s audience spend time watching Blizzard videos.
