At the end of spring, there was a hype around a new genre — the autobattler. The new mechanics originated initially as a mod for Dota 2. Thanks to it, the audience of the Valve game increased by a quarter. But how interesting this genre is in isolation from the “mother game”, it becomes clear only now.
There are already at least a couple dozen games in this genre on the mobile market. Most of them are not of interest (as a rule, they are cheap crafts). There are only four major titles that deserve attention:
Arena of Evolution: Red TidesAlmost the first mobile autobattler.
Appeared on Android back in April. It was his approach to the UI that most of the autobattlers that came out later borrowed.
Auto ChessDevelopment of Drodo Studio, the creator of the original mod.
Released on May 31 on Android by the Chinese publisher Dragonest Game. The release on iOS took place on June 6.
Dota UnderlordsThe Valve project.
On it, the authors of the Half-Life series collect all possible rakes. This is their first mobile experience. The world launch took place on June 20.
Chess RushAn ambitious autobattler from Tencent.
The company positions it as a simplified and faster version of the original game. Released on July 3.
Contrary to the hype and the high popularity of mechanics, autobuttlers do not earn astronomical sums on mobile platforms. According to DataMagic, only one of the mentioned games received more than $ 1 million — Auto Chess. The revenue of the game to date from the versions for both platforms amounted to $ 2.1 million. The rest of the projects have a cash register even less than $ 500 thousand. To be fair: Dota Underlords has monetization disabled so far.
With downloads, the situation is slightly different. Auto Chess is still in the lead with 7 million installations. However, other projects also have relatively good results. In second place in terms of Chess Rush with 2.7 million installations. In third place — Dota Underlords with 2.5 million. Arena of Evolution closes the top four with 0.9 million.

For comparison, another midcore mobile PvP blockbuster – Clash Royale — now earns $33 million per month, and its monthly downloads are at 5.4 million.
The result can be summed up as follows: despite the sudden popularity of the autobattler as a genre, its representatives have not yet demonstrated crazy revenue. However, they can show a good level of downloads.
