Activision Blizzard reported earnings for the 3rd quarter of 2017. The company earned $1.6 billion, exceeding its own forecast by $233 million.

Compared to the same period last year, the company’s revenues increased by 3.2%. Operating profit also increased by 12.6% compared to last year and amounted to $257 million.

The income of the divisions amounted to:

  • Activision — $759 million
  • Blizzard — $531 million
  • King — $528 million

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick called the launch of the Destiny 2 MMO shooter, the preparation for the release of the new part of Call of Duty: WWII and the growth of the international audience of esports games: Overwatch and Hearthstone the main events of the 3rd quarter.

Released by Activision in September, Destiny 2 from Bungie Studio became the best-selling game of the month in the United States. More than half of the sales were digital copies.

The number of registered players in Blizzard’s heroic Overwatch shooter increased to 35 million people in the 3rd quarter.

In the 3rd quarter, the monthly audience of King mobile titles decreased from 314 to 293 million people.

At the same time, the number of paying players has reached a record high since the 1st quarter of 2016, ARPPU from each paying user has been growing for 9 consecutive quarters, and King’s monthly audience has reached 293 million people per month.
