As it traditionally happens at the end of the month, App Annie analysts summed up the results of the mobile games market of the previous month. We have an analysis of the report in Russian.
Leading companiesKetchapp as a publisher continues to move up.
In terms of total downloads for December, the company came in fourth place in the world. But the most interesting thing, of course, is the sharp rise in the Outfit7 top. At the very end of November, the studio released My Talking Angela, a new game within the Talking Tom franchise, which, we recall, totals more than 2 billion downloads. The novelty lifted the publisher 10 positions up, straight to fifth place.
In terms of the box office, Square Enix has risen well – by as many as 10 positions. Perhaps the reason is the Japanese release of Dragon Quest V, which fell exactly on Dec. The release of the world version of Dragon Quest II and the appearance of the Lara Croft pack also played a role. But it turned out to be such a very comprehensive approach. None of the companies got into the cash Top 10 in December.
Electronic Arts rose two positions to the top thanks to the successful launch of SimCity BuildIt, which also did not get into the global box office Top 10, but was in high positions in a number of regions, including Russia. Now the game is on the 32nd place in the box office gaming chart.
Hits of DecemberThere are a solid number of newcomers to the Top 10 by downloads.
Firstly, this is Trivia Crack, which was released back in October 2013. The success of the game on iOS brought its developer – Etermax – almost to the leaders on the mobile Apple platform. We do not undertake to explain the two-month marathon of the quiz, which now occupies the first position on iOS in the States in terms of downloads and is in the Top 10 in terms of revenue. Perhaps the authors have brought the ROI of the game to the required level in a year of development and are now pouring traffic into the project.
Also, as we have already mentioned, My Talking Angela from Outfit7 showed itself perfectly.
Released in November on iOS, Dumb Ways to Die 2 jumped up 15 positions in the top after receiving support in December from its Android counterpart.
InterestingEarned on advertising Crossy Road, it turns out, earns well on IAP.
At the end of December, the game occupied 51, 65 and 94 places in the box office gaming tops of the UK, USA and Canada, respectively.
