One of the largest mobile advertising platforms, AdColony, laid off 125 employees and closed the AdMarvel division due to the automation of advertising sales.

Part of AdMarvel will continue to work until May 2018, after which it will be integrated into the AdColony platform.

“Most publishers no longer turn to us for advertising services. Advertisers want to buy traffic automatically and without intermediaries,” AdColony CEO Will Cassoy wrote in an official message on the company’s website.

He added that AdColony should focus on working in areas where there is potential for growth.

Layoffs due to automation of advertising sales began in July of this year — then 100 people left AdColony.

Recent cuts have reduced the company’s staff to 400 employees.
