In an interview with the Gamasutra gaming industry resource, Jens Begemann, head of Wooga, one of the top three developers of social games for Facebook, said that his team has shifted its focus to mobile products.
Due to the change in strategy, a certain reorganization is being carried out in the company. According to Begemann, the decision on the new priorities was made about a year ago. At that time, only 10 people worked on mobile projects at Wooga, but today it is half of the entire personal staff of the team, which now has 250 employees.
The boss of Wooga noted that it is necessary to prepare for a future in which people will stop buying computers and will play mainly on tablets.
We should add that Wooga currently has 8 applications on Facebook with a total DAU of over 7 million and MAU of about 39.5 million. In the assortment of mobile stores, in particular, the “Apple” App Store, there are three games so far: Diamond Dash, Pocket Island and Bubble Island. Not so long ago, we reported that Diamond Dash has been downloaded over 30 million times since its release on iOS.
