Almost a year after the first vague hints about the possible appearance of Final Fantasy VI on mobile platforms, Square Enix confirmed the development of the game for iOS and Android.

As we expected almost a year ago, the sixth part, as well as the fifth, which was released relatively recently, will not be redone from scratch. The main change that the developers have made is the balance. Owners of mobile devices, unlike hardcore players, do not like to grind. Therefore, the developers decided to minimize it.

After Final Fantasy VI, the Japanese company plans to release Final Fantasy on mobile platforms: The After Years, the plot continuation of the fourth part. Only after its release, perhaps Square Enix will take up the cult Final Fantasy VII.

As Takashi Tokita notes: “We know that part VII has a huge number of fans. They are also among our employees. If the sixth part is successful, we would like to start working on Final Fantasy VII one day.”

The original Final Fantasy VI was released on the SNES in 1994. The last time Square Enix reissued it in the GameBoy Advance version was in 1999.
