A study of Kids and Consumer Electronics: 2012 Edition conducted by the NPD Group showed that the younger generation still prefers consoles and portable gaming systems to mobile devices. However, tablets are becoming increasingly popular among this audience.

According to data obtained by NPD, children under the age of 14 prefer to play on portable consoles rather than on smartphones or tablets. Nevertheless, tablets have shown good growth dynamics over the past year. In 2011, the degree of their use was 3%, and this year it has grown to 13%, and, curiously, among the youngest users, the youngest distinguished themselves.

The study was conducted by means of a survey in which 3,235 Americans over the age of 23 with children aged 4 to 14 years took part.
