Yesterday, January 16, the iOS version of the sequel to one of the most popular games of 2012 appeared in the App Store bins. Meet Temple Run 2.

Like the original, the project is the creation of the Imangi family team, which includes spouses Keith Shepherd and Natalia Lukyanova, as well as artist Kirill Changov. Recall that the first game of the series appeared in 2011 and has since been downloaded over 170 million times.

In the new work, developers have left the basic game mechanics virtually untouched. Our hero, running away from a scary monkey, is again waiting for an “obstacle race”, collecting power-ups and completing various tasks. The project’s setting has changed significantly (the jungle has given way to something like Shangri-La) and, of course, the graphics have improved.

Like the first game in the series, Temple Run 2 functions within the free-to-play model. Unfortunately, it has not yet been announced when the Android version will be released.

UPDATE: The new Imangi game will be released on Android in a week.
