Rovio Entertainment yesterday announced the opening of a new division of Rovio Stars, which will be engaged in publishing third-party mobile projects.

As Jamie Laes, executive vice president of Rovio’s gaming division, admits, “entering the publishing market is a logical step for the company.”

The first in the list of games for publishing is Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage from the London developer Nitrome Ltd, known for flash games. The game will be released on iOS and is a physical puzzle game in which the Viking has to pass obstacles by cutting blocks of ice.

The second project for the publisher is a two–dimensional puzzle Tiny Thief from 5 Ants. The game will be released on iOS, Android, Windows PC and Mac.
