The Finnish company has decided on serious innovations in the latest update of the original Angry Birds. About updates, and whether they can seriously change anything in the fate of the project – read below.

Last week we missed the update of the original Angry Birds.

Why did we forget about him?

Well, at least because we, as a rule, do not write about this. Packs for good and famous projects are released daily, and this rarely affects the balance of power in the mobile games market.

Here is the translation of Clash of Clans into Japanese – influenced, allowing the Finnish project to get into the top ten of this region.

Whether the usual change of backgrounds in, for example, Subway Surfers can count on this is a big question. Although, given that the monetization in the Dutch project is partially focused on local markets, it is more likely yes than no.

But we moved away from the topic.

Regular release of updates in the case of mobile games without PvP and ultimate gameplay is what allows them to hold on to the positions already achieved.

The reservation about PvP and the final gameplay was made based on the fact that it is much more difficult to keep the user for a long time in such projects than in those where there is a competitive moment and, in fact, an endless gameplay.

If endless games (farms and builders, runners, MMORPGs) can be compared to a black-and-white comic book, where updates are new colors and new touches, then when we talk about final projects (as a rule, games divided into missions), another metaphor applies – a book that still can’t to end: more and more new pages are constantly coming out, but there is still no logical point. In addition, the content of this book, following our metaphor, does not think to change from time to time. Therefore, unlike a sprawling comic book, an endless book, as it seems to us, gets boring faster.

Therefore, the outgoing updates in this case do not work according to the scheme: retained old users, acquired new ones. More precisely, they work, but much worse than if we are talking about “comics”.

Angry Birds is just something like such a book.

We started talking about the latest update to it only because Rovio in it for the first time since Angry Birds Star Wars decided to make significant experiments with mechanics within the framework of the famous title.

In Red’s Mighty Feathers, which is the name of the update, the birds have become endless, and the pigs have learned to move. The task has also changed – not to let the pigs get to the egg.

Such experiments show that Rovio feels a loss of interest in the original gameplay, in the original game and tries to return attention to it. Another question is whether the 2009 project needs it? And isn’t it better to go further with IP, into other genres?

Red’s Mighty Feathers returned Angry Birds to the top twenty of the American top paid for one day. Now the game continues its “return” to the top 40.
