In just three months, the Amazon tablet has become the absolute leader in the American Android tablet market, snatching a share of 54%.

This was told by comScore in its latest report. The closest competitor of the budget tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Tab series, which played with Kindle Fire on equal terms back in November, lost almost 9% of the market during this time.

The Amazon tablet has been nibbling at other players as well. As a result, Motorola Xoom, Toshiba AT100 and Acer Picasso suffered the most. Interestingly, the Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble, which was considered the main competitor of the Kindle Fire at launch, did not even make it into the top ten most popular tablets. Apparently, its market share is less than 0.5%.

The Asus Transformer family, in turn, on the contrary, held its positions. A marketing company played a role here, which positioned the device both as a premium tablet and as a tablet transforming into a full-fledged netbook.

Of all the competitors, the Kindle Fire managed to gain a little weight, and even then only slightly, only the Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1.

So we can safely say that the tablet market as a whole, and not by platform, is now divided between two players – iPad and Kindle Fire.
