For children under 12, the Apple tablet tops the list of coveted hi-tech gifts for Christmas. Those who are older also most want to find an iPad under the Christmas tree, according to the research company Nielsen in its annual report.
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are most interested in Apple devices. 48% of kids who would prefer a device as a gift for the winter holidays dream of a full-size iPad. 36% also would not give up the iPod Touch and iPad Mini. But only 33% of the surveyed children dream of finding an iPhone in a sock by the fireplace. In the top five in the category of “coveted gifts” they have only one device without an “apple” – this is the newly released Wii U console from Nintendo with 39%.
As for users aged 13 and older, the majority of hi-tech gifts (21%) would also prefer an Apple tablet. But in second place with 19%, surprise, a regular personal computer. On the third – a tablet not on the iOS platform (18%), on the fourth – a new console from Nintendo (17%), and on the fifth, with a large percentage margin, iPhone (14%). And, yes, a wake-up call, for Christmas, 12% of users want any smartphone, but not an iPhone, and 11% dream of getting a “dialer” on Android.
