According to the results of the second quarter, Apple devices account for 31% of all mobile advertising views in the United States, Millennial Media reports in its latest report.

This happened largely due to the high number of views on the iPhone, which, according to the results of monitoring, broke out into the leaders in the number of views among mobile phones: it is followed by 15% of the advertising traffic coming from the “tubes”.

Samsung devices are in second place in terms of the number of ads viewed, with 21.9%. There are as many as 8 devices in the top 20 mobile phones with the highest number of advertising views. Among them are Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Admiral.

Analysts also found that smartphones as a separate type of device (and not in the above case with the iPhone, where it was the mobile phone with the highest number of advertising views that was calculated) accounted for 74% of all advertising traffic, and this is 8% more than last year.

As for tablets, the top five in terms of the number of views include: iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Amazon Kindle Fire, Acer Iconia and Motorola Xoom.

Important: 46% of advertising views are on Android devices, 34% – on iOS, 15% – on Blackberry and 4% – on Windows Phone.

Out of curiosity: since the first quarter of 2012, smartphone advertising traffic has grown by only 1%, and the number of views from regular mobile phones (featured phone) has not decreased for the first time in a long time.

A little remark is probably needed here. Millennial Media first counted all mobile advertising traffic, then divided it based on different criteria. In one case, analysts counted how many total views accounted for each manufacturer’s devices, in another case, they took only views from mobile phones and calculated how many accounted for each of them, etc.
