EA continues to close its studios. According to rumors, the Vancouver division of PopCap is next in line.
A couple of weeks ago we wrote about the scandalous closure of EA Mobile Montreal, which occurred against the background of an even more scandalous reduction of Playfish. Even then it became clear that the company would not stop there. And so it happened.
One of the latest PopCap Vancouver gamesLast Thursday, EA officially admitted that it is engaged in reorganization, during which layoffs occur.
In the Kotaku gaming blog, information immediately appeared about the scale of the reduction – 10%. Considering that last year the company had 9,000 employees, this is a huge figure.
It also became known that the next “losers” were PopCap Vancouver, which until recently was engaged in creating games in the genre of “I’m looking for” (hidden object), including for mobile platforms.
True, this is still unofficial, but 30 employees of the Vancouver studio are already looking for work.
