Distimo told how much she earns from one download Clash of Clans, Rage of Bahamut, Candy Crush Saga and other box office hits of the American App Store.

Today, Distimo has published a report on how much developers of top mobile games earn. We offer a factual summary of the study, under the text you will also find a table with the ARPD of the cash register of dozens of App Store US applications.

In February, the share of IAP in revenue from the American App Store for iPhone reached a record 76%.

90% of all revenue coming from Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Japan, China and South Korea is IAP.

The average revenue per download (ARPD) received from 250 top apps released after January 2012 in the United States is $0.99. In Japan, where the average user spends much more, this figure is much higher – $3.12.

Among the top 10 American February 2013 iPhone apps released after January 2012, ARPD ranges from $0.37 to $7.04.

Of the three possible business models, freemium applications (most likely, free-to-play is still meant here) earn the least from one download. In the US, on average, it is $0.93. About 92% of such applications generate less than $0.99 – the minimum price tag for a paid application.

Paid iPhone apps without IAP, on average, earn $2.25 per download in the US. Paid apps with IAP earn much more with each download. This demonstrates that users do not stop using a paid application if they have to buy additional functionality in it.

The average revenue from a single download for a paid app on the iPad is twice as much as on the iPhone in the American App Store: $4.04 versus $2.25.

An IAP app for iPad earns more than similar ones for iPhone: $2.26 versus $0.93.
