According to the results of the fourth quarter of 2012, Chinese smartphone manufacturers, Huawei and ZTE, entered the top five, displacing Korean LG and Taiwanese HTC.
According to IDC analytical data, almost 220 million smartphones were shipped in the last quarter of the previous year, which is a third more than in the fourth quarter of 2011. Against the background of market sharks Samsung (29%) and Apple (21.8%), Huawei’s share in third place is insignificant (only 4.9%), but for the Chinese vendor itself, shipments are almost doubled.
Huawei closed the fourth quarter of 2012 with 10.8 million smartphones shipped (last year there were 5.7 million). In addition, Huawei reported last week that its net profit for 2012 increased by 33%.
Thus, the company managed to bypass Sony with 9.8 million smartphones delivered to the market. ZTE closes the top five with a 4.3% share on 9.5 million smartphones.
It is worth noting that having shipped 10 million iPhones more than a year ago, Apple lost a share of 1.2%.
