Ed Rumley from Chillingo, in an interview with Inside Mobile Apps, talked about how long they have been working with projects, and also noted that fragmentation is in his company’s favor.

After two successful Chillingo releases at once – Snail Bob and He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe – Scott Rayburn from the Inside Mobile Apps portal spoke with Ed Rumley, the operating director of the company absorbed by Electronic Arts in 2010.

When asked how the publisher managed to release a game that hit the top almost immediately after the release (it immediately went about He-Man), Ramley said that this was “a million dollar question.” For him, the main thing is to polish the game, because “there is no place for anything else on the market, except for a quality product.” What is polishing? In balance, as well as in understanding one simple thing: the consumer is the king.

Ramli also said that his company spent a whole year working with the creators of Catapult King. Apparently, it was worth it: the game led the American top paid games for a while.

But, more interestingly, fragmentation, which developers usually suffer from, according to Ramli, “is our friend, because we have enough knowledge and experience, and also because we are part of EA.” He also added that two years ago, 100% of the company’s business was on iOS, but now the company already considers itself a multiplatform publisher.
