At the request of Google, the analytical company J’son & Partners Consulting conducted a study of the Russian mobile market. The report includes data on the number of mobile Internet users in Russia, as well as the volume and prospects of the Russian mobile market as a whole.
According to the results of 2012, the total number of Russian mobile Internet users from smartphones amounted to 22.5 million, which is 88% more than last year. There are significantly fewer users accessing the Internet from tablets – 2.5 million or 4% of the total.
As for the purposes of using mobile devices by Russians, about 70% use smartphones both for personal purposes and for work, 68% use them at home, 54% – “on the go” and another 52% – at work.
The average number of applications installed on a smartphone is 5-20, and users actively use only half of the downloaded programs. The most popular category of mobile applications are games, they account for 58% of downloads.
According to J’son & Partners Consulting, in 2012 the volume of the mobile application market in Russia amounted to $2.7 billion. Next year, analysts predict this figure at $3.2 billion, but by 2015, the volume of the Russian mobile market may increase 5 times and amount to about $ 13.5 billion.
