More than a quarter of mobile traffic in Russia is accounted for by Apple devices, according to StatCounter experts. They also talked about the most popular resolutions of mobile screens. There were some surprises.
It can show that this brings the Russian mobile market closer to countries such as the USA, Canada, and the UK, where Apple also dominates.
However, in fact, it is closer to Chinese. The fact is that if you look at the market not by vendors, but by operating systems, then 47.06% of mobile traffic turns out to be behind Android devices in Russia.
But something else is curious: 20.12% of our mobile traffic is generated by Chinese and domestic devices of unknown manufacturers. Their share in terms of traffic is higher than Samsung’s, which has 19.54% of the network. A comparable number of relatively unknown devices is observed in almost all CIS countries. The only exception is Kazakhstan.
Samsung is the world’s leader in generating mobile traffic. It has 25.69% of the market. With 23.39%, it is followed by Apple. Surprisingly, Nokia continues to generate significant traffic – 21.66%.
As for operating systems, the situation is generally repeated here. Android with 39.52% is in first place, followed by iOS, and then Series 40 and SymbianOS.
But we found other information especially interesting – about the most popular screen resolutions of mobile devices.
Actually, 320 by 480 is the resolution of budget Android smartphones with a diagonal of 3.5 inches. This includes Samsung Galaxy Ace and HTC Desire C. Moreover, this is the screen resolution of the Apple iPhone 3GS. What we are leading to: now there is a race of permissions and powerful processors. During this race, developers may well forget about potential users, which is not worth doing.
