In the second quarter of 2012, sales of Android-based smartphones increased more than fourfold compared to the same period last year, according to Svyaznoy.
Such dynamic growth allowed Google’s platform to occupy 59% of the Russian market in terms of the number of devices sold and 68% of the market in terms of revenue.
According to another major mobile retailer, Euroset, Google’s presence in the Russian market has doubled over the past year. The share of Android in the domestic market, according to their estimates for the first half of the year, was 55%.
