According to Reuters, the Amazon online store is in talks with Texas Instruments about buying its division specializing in the production of processors for mobile devices.

Both companies have so far declined to comment. It’s too early to talk about the amount of the deal, but there is an opinion that Amazon will have to pay from $1 billion for the division.

In the case of a deal, it will be possible to talk about the continuation of Amazon’s expansionist policy in the tablet market. More recently, the company has entered the Old World with its mobile application market and new devices. As a further prospect, apparently, the company is also considering the possibility of completely taking over the production of chips, following the example of Apple and Samsung.

On the one hand, this step will allow the company to reduce the cost of production of devices. This is very important for a company that sells its devices at no extra charge.

On the other hand, such a decision will seriously enhance Amazon’s reputation, put the company above many other players, including direct competitors from Barnes & Noble, who also use Texas Instruments processors.

By the way, according to IHS iSuppli, according to the results of the second quarter of this year, Amazon ranked third among tablet manufacturers in terms of shipments to the world market, having shipped 1 million devices.
