Amazon has improved the mechanism of so-called parental control on its devices. After that, it gave developers the opportunity to set the price for in-game purchases above $ 20.
Purchases on the Amazon Appstore are usually made in one click, which could make the Kindle Fire a very expensive toy in the hands of a child. But with the update of parental control, the problem disappeared by itself. If all settings are set correctly, any purchase requires a four-digit password.
So, by releasing the update, Amazon has untied its hands, since it is no longer threatened by the charges that were recently brought by the US Federal Court against Apple (we wrote about them yesterday).
Against this background, the ability to set the price for content inside applications above $ 20 looks quite logical. In addition, high prices for in-game purchases should strengthen Amazon’s reputation as one of the most profitable stores on the Android platform.
By the way, according to Flurry data for July 2011, most of the income (51%) from micropayments just accounted for the part that costs from $ 20 or more. However, an absolute minority of buyers (13%) went to such expenses. Most of them (71%) still preferred price tags below $10.
It is clear that the data is more than six months old, and they could be outdated, but, on the other hand, they do not reflect the situation on the market, but build a picture of social relations, how users react to certain prices. And this does not change quickly.

By the way, it will be possible to communicate personally with representatives of Flurry at the White Nights Mobile Games Conference, which will be held on June 14 and 15 in St. Petersburg.
