In the UK alone, children spend about £31 million of parental money per month on unauthorized purchases and IAP, The Guardian reports in its research conducted jointly with Microsoft.

2,000 British parents who own smartphones and tablets took part in the survey. 28% of respondents said that their children made purchases without their permission. 83% admitted that they suffered from unexpected payments from their bank accounts. The average amount of such a bill is estimated at about £34.18. 77% of respondents believe that parents should receive more help from companies in terms of training to monitor the “mobile habits” of their offspring.

By the way, one of the goals that Microsoft set for itself while conducting this study was to promote the Kid’s Corner functionality in Windows Phone 8.
