Especially for App2Top, former owner of "Kanobu" and "Igromania," Gadzhi Makhtiev commented on the sale and discussed the significant challenges currently facing the industry, in his opinion.

The past three years have revealed two issues within the industry:

  • confusion within the gaming industry;
  • the lack of power centers around which those who have not given up and are ready to take on new challenges can gather.

The few resourceful individuals remaining in the country from the old paradigm are resting on their laurels and are not ready to take responsibility for our collective industrial future, other than continuing to monetize their inherited cash flows under ideal conditions that maintain their status quo.

Thus, it took us several years to answer questions like "what to do," "who will do it," and most importantly—"where to find resources for it."

If I had my own $50 million, I would have started a holding immediately. At a rate of 21%, that did not happen, so I just waited for such a player to emerge in the domestic market.

Now it is clear that Vasily and his holding company [Referring to Vasily Ovchinnikov's "IFSI." — Ed. note.] are becoming that player. I understand his vision and strategy, at least from the perspectives we had the chance to discuss.

My media phase in the industry has ended.

My phase in the gaming industry continues.

I see an important task in helping gamers receive quality content.

Helping developers from around the world have the opportunity to be present in the Russian market.

I view my current meta-task as reducing the problem of our developers’ dependence on traffic from "VK" and "Yandex." I will dedicate my next project precisely to these goals.
