The American mobile publisher Zynga announced its intention to buy a division for the creation of mobile card games from the studio Peak Games.
The transaction amount will be $100 million, and the purchase itself is scheduled for the end of the 4th quarter of 2017.
The Peak Games division developed mobile versions of classic card games (Spades Plus, Gin Rummy Plus).
“We are pleased to welcome a talented development team from Istanbul to the Zynga family. Thanks to them, Zynga will have the world’s largest portfolio of casual card games,” the company said.
With this purchase, Zynga marked the successful completion of the third quarter of 2017, following which the company’s revenues increased by 23% compared to the same period last year and reached $224.6 million. 87% of all Zynga revenues and sales came from mobile.
Net profit in the third quarter was $18.1 million. The company has completed two consecutive quarters with profit for the first time since December 2011.
Most of the quarterly revenue was generated by Zynga’s “perpetual franchises”, such as Zynga Poker, CSR2 and Words With Friends.
The company also noted that the DAU of Zynga games reached 19 million players, an increase of 19% compared to last year.
