The Finnish platform Jolla has named the Russian company Yandex as an official partner for the distribution of applications. The domestic search giant via Yandex. The Store will distribute programs for the new Sailfish operating system.
Thanks to the Yandex deal. The Android Store will be installed on future Jolla smartphones that run on the Linux-based Sailfish OS.
The developers have analyzed and tried all alternative Android software stores. According to them, compared to competitors, Yandex offers the most interesting solution. Jolla claims that Yandex is extremely interested in developing its own software store and establishing strong ties with developers.
Jolla is trying to attract customers to the product by offering compatibility with Android programs. The platform developed by the Finns grew out of a joint project between Nokia and Intel called MeeGo OS.
In September 2013, Jolla announced that Sailfish is compatible with Android. Users are allowed to download Android programs, as on any other device based on the Google system. Yandex offers about 85 thousand programs in 17 categories in the Android store, so Jolla’s desire to work with the Russian giant is quite understandable.
