The head of inXile, Brian Fargo, said that he wants to retire in 2019.
“I love the gaming industry, and I’ve been in it since 1981. I was with Ken and Roberta Williams when they founded Sierra, I’m friends with EA founder Trip Hawkins, all my friends have a lot more time now. It looks like it’s time for me to get some rest,” Fargo said.
He added that he wants to leave in the wake of the success of the last projects he worked on at inXile, from Wasteland 2 to The Bard’s Tale 4.
Brian Fargo is scheduled to retire in 2019 after the release of Wasteland 3. “I still have enough time, it won’t happen tomorrow. Wasteland 3 will put an end to my 38-year career,” said the game designer.
Speaking about what he will do in retirement, Fargo admitted that he had long wanted to visit the ancient city of Machu Picchu in the mountains of Peru.
Brian Fargo founded Interplay in 1983, which created Fallout and Fallout 2. He collaborated with BioWare, Blizzard and other leading representatives of the industry. In 2002, he created inXile Entertainment, where, with the support of crowdfunding, he worked on Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, The Bard’s Tale 4 and Wasteland 3.
