The Belarusian giant Wargaming.net announced the conclusion of a “long-term strategic partnership” with the authors of the Toy Defense and Farm Frenzy series.
Such a partnership will resemble the classic “developer + publisher” bundle,” the top manager said Wargaming.net Andrey Yarantsev in an interview TUT.BY . According to him, on the side of Melesta will be “inventing and developing games,” and Wargaming.net it will help in marketing and operating.
An important nuance: the “tank” company reserves the right to make a final decision on the launch of new products within the framework of the partnership. However, the final decision will concern only those projects that will use the company’s brand [Wargaming.net ].
It is not reported on what other conditions the partnership was concluded. As far as can be understood from the interview, at this stage no capital was invested in Melesta Games.
“When Wargaming began to think about how best to build a mobile strategy, several scenarios were considered: to increase expertise from the inside; to reach a ready-made well-coordinated team and agree on cooperation; to engage in venture investment and invest in several studios. As a result, we followed the second path and became friends with Melesta,” Yarantsev noted.
In the plans Wargaming.net build a Belarusian Supercell together with the authors of Toy Defense, “strengthening the existing team with experienced developers, resources and connections.”
