Diablo 4 has not even been announced yet, and the Wargaming Alliance is already in a hurry to introduce its potential competitor to the world. In 2019, the publisher will release Pagan Online from Serbian developer Mad Head Games.

There are no screenshots or gameplay details yet. But there is a trailer.

What is already known about the new game

Pagan Online is an action RPG with MOBA elements and dungeons. Mad Head was inspired by games such as Diablo, Path of Exile and Dark Souls.

Mad Head has endowed Pagan Online with a number of features of the MOBA genre: the duration of gaming sessions, the ability to choose from unique three-dimensional characters with an individual set of abilities.

It will be a paid cooperative game service. The developers plan to gradually supplement it with new story missions — the so-called “Combat Chapters”.

The setting is based on various pre-Christian beliefs. The game borrows elements from cultures and myths that existed before the advent of Christianity, but it is unknown whether genuine religions will be fully represented in the game.

To overcome elite opponents and story bosses, you will have to carefully select equipment and build a strategy together with other players in advance.

Each mission in Pagan Online, whether it's a quick run or a long game session, contains a specific goal and a whole set of opponents. The gameplay will surely be familiar to aRPG fans, but still we think it will surprise them with its thoughtfulness and complexity.

Why is the game atypical for both the publisher and the developer

Wargaming has made a name for itself on games about tanks and warships in the World War II setting. She has done little action RPG; her experience in premium is limited to two projects.

For Mad Head, this is generally the first game in the action-RPG genre. Previously, her track record included casual projects in the hidden and adventure genre.

For Grinding Gear, their Path of Exile was also the first game. These guys presented their unique vision of the aRPG genre, which they and other fans of similar games wanted to develop. Pagan Online's creativity stems from the aRPG and hack and slash games we grew up on, and the way they (Mad Head Games — approx. editors) see the further development of the genre, really inspired us.

For the first time that Wargaming and Mad Head Games will cooperate, it became known in April of this year.
