Indie developers of mobile games should not be afraid to evaluate their work higher than the notorious $0.99. This opinion was expressed by the Vlambeer team in a discussion posted in the Ask Me Anything section of the famous Reddit site.

So, the creators of the famous Super Crate Box game, once nominated for an IGF Award in the Excellence in Design category, advised developers to think carefully before setting a low price for the game in the App Store. To survive, an independent developer needs a very large number of downloads for $0.99. Considering that paid applications have not been particularly popular lately, it makes no sense to hope for this. It is better to put the price tag at $2.99 right away. It won’t get any worse.

According to Vlambeer, it was the race “for low prices” that led to the dominance of f2p games on the mobile market, however, as part of this approach, according to the developers, it is almost impossible not to sacrifice the “elegance” of game design.

By the way, on March 14, their new game Ridiculous Fishing: A Tale of Redemption was released in the App Store. Like other Vlambeer projects, it is distinguished by its original visual performance and has already received a lot of high ratings (Metacritic – 92). Will you ask about the price? $2,99.
