Two years after the successful Kickstarter campaign, Camelot Unchained developers received an additional $7.5 million. The funds were received in exchange for a stake in their company, City State Entertainment.
The latter was founded by Mark Jacobs, producer and designer of Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online, and Andrew Meggs, lead programmer of projects such as Myth III: The Wolf Age, Vampire: The Masquerade and Warhammer Online.
The investors were GF Capital Management & Advisors, which had previously invested in another Jacobs company, Mythic Entertainment, which was closed by Electronic Arts in 2014 after the failure of mobile Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar and Dungeon Keeper.
Camelot Unchained
It is not known exactly what share City State Entertainment had to give in exchange for $7.5 million.
There is only information that it is less than 50%.
The main feature of the Camelot Unchained developed by the company is in the economy. All equipment in the game is created and sold exclusively by players. It cannot be purchased from an NPC.
The project is scheduled for release in 2019. Initially, Mark and Andrew managed to raise $2.3 million for its creation during a crowdfunding campaign in December 2015.
