The gaming store in the Twitch streaming service is closing. The store existed for 18 months.
His main goal was to support streamers. It was assumed that they would earn well, receiving part of the profit from the purchase of games and in-game content by users.
However, it soon became clear that the store provided significant earnings to only a small part of the streamers. For everyone else, this function in the store did almost nothing. The management of the service decided that the game store does not meet expectations.
Now Twitch will focus on other ways to financially support streamers. In particular, on the Amazon Blacksmith extension, which allows streamers to receive deductions from games purchased on their recommendation on Amazon.com . Now only the showcase redirecting to Amazon remains on Twitch.
Twitch also announced that players will retain all the goods purchased in the store. Games will still be launched via the Twitch desktop app or Ubisoft’s Uplay gaming service. However, you can no longer buy games through the Twitch app.
