The THQ Nordic division has opened in Tokyo. This is the second local distributor created by this publisher.

Employees of THQ Nordic Japan will promote products of both the parent company and the HandyGames studio on the Japanese market. The latter is a mobile publisher and developer. THQ Nordic acquired it last year.

With its distributor in Japan, THQ Nordic will fully cover the local market, according to THQ Nordic Managing Director Klemens Kreuzera. “The only effective way (to do this) is to hire a team of Japanese professionals,” he said. By the way, this team will be headed by Managing Director Yuji Kato with more than 20 years of experience in the gaming industry.

THQ Nordic Japan is already the second “daughter” of THQ Nordic related to distribution and marketing. The first one was created in 2012 in the USA, writes Gematsu.

Recall that THQ Nordic has been actively expanding its staff and the number of divisions in recent years. She is constantly acquiring and opening new studios. By August, the total number of its employees reached 2,500 people.
