The demand for collectible titles in retail will always remain, despite falling sales of physical copies, says Philip Brock, PR director of THQ Nordic publishing house.

Brock compared game collectible boxes with music on vinyl records, which have not gone out of fashion for many decades.

According to the specialist, the publisher should carefully select the set of contents in the collector’s edition of each title in order to give the buyer maximum impressions at an adequate price.

By releasing collectible versions, THQ Nordic tries not to overstate the cost of the boxes too much compared to the price of the game itself.

Philip Brock added that collectible versions can be popular regardless of the scale of the title. THQ Nordic publishing house receives a lot of requests from players to release physical copies of games that initially no one was going to publish in “analog” due to their relative ease of execution and small size.
