The platform for the promotion of casual games WildTangent has agreed with Sony to integrate its own app store on smartphones and tablets of the Japanese company.

It is reported that owners of a number of Xperia devices will have access to the WildTangent game library. In case of registration on its service, they will also be credited with a certain amount of virtual currency WildCoins, for which users will be able to purchase paid versions of certain games from the mentioned library (including Fruit Ninja and SHADOWGUN).

In fact, this is a mutually beneficial cooperation, which, nevertheless, is unlikely to lead to something serious for Sony in the near future. The number of projects currently in the WildTangent mobile store is very modest – only 206 projects. On the other hand, for the platform itself, such an event is a huge help in business development. In fact, the company has gained direct access to the entire audience of Sony mobile devices.

However, not everything is clear yet: will the WildTangent market be installed only on new Xperia devices, or will owners of old devices receive it after updating the firmware? How much exactly will WildCoins give? How fast will the company’s mobile project base grow?

Anyway, this deal is a continuation of a rather old story. Back in 2011, an agreement was signed between Sony and WildTangent, according to which the WindTangent Games App was preinstalled on a number of VAIO devices, as well as on S and P tablets.

By the way, a couple of weeks ago WilTangent released its first game for iOS – something like a bowling simulator Polar Bowler 1st Frame.

Both the contract with Sony and the release of the game on iOS (according to rumors, several more projects for the App Store are being prepared in the near future) indicate WildTangent’s serious plans for the mobile market.
