Gameplay videos of the Frontier Chronicles midcore strategy from the kimbee St. Petersburg team were blocked on YouTube at the request of the authors of Candy Crush Saga.

As reported App2Top.ru the developers of Frontier Chronicles, King considered that the company’s content was found in the videos. In correspondence with kimbee, a representative of the casual giant claims that Russian developers use their graphics.

The domestic studio denies the accusations and links them to the fact that Frontier Chronicles is in general similar to the Battle Nations project, which was developed and supported for five years by Seattle-based Z2.

The Z2 studio was bought by King in 2015 for $150 million. After that, all midcore projects of the studio were closed. Including Battle Nations.

After the closure of Battle Nations, the Russian developers, after talking with the project community, decided to do “something similar”. This was the beginning of Frontier Chronicles, which, judging by the screenshots, is the ideological heir of the original Z2 game.

Comparison of Battle Nations and Frontier Chronicles graphics
“We don’t understand why the video from our database was distributed at all,” Alexey Dumchev, one of the project developers, said in an interview with us.

– “If there is a similarity, it is not only with Battle Nations, but in general with any games that have the opportunity to build this base.”

He also noted that although the game was created with an eye on Battle Nations, the team did not use any code or graphics from it.

It is still possible to get acquainted with the blocked videos on Facebook here.

Now the kimbee team has written a protest on YouTube against the blocking, and is also communicating with King about the withdrawal of the complaint.

Art for Frontier ChroniclesKing is well known for its legal conflicts.

In 2014, she filed claims against The Banner Saga because of the use of the word Saga, and as a result of court proceedings that began in 2013, she forced 6waves to remove several casual projects from the app stores.

Deleting videos of an unreleased game from YouTube for King is a new practice.
