Microsoft is closer than ever to completing the purchase of ZeniMax. Today, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission officially approved a deal worth $7.5 billion. Now the decision has to be made by the European Commission.

On March 5, the US regulator published an official notice of entry into force. This means that the Commission approved Microsoft’s application after the audit.

Initially, the company planned to close the deal for the purchase of ZeniMax in June, but now it may happen earlier. The last decision was left to the European Commission, the provisional deadline for the issuance of which is also set for March 5.

Microsoft announced a deal to buy ZeniMax for $7.5 billion in September last year. After the takeover is completed, the company will include studios such as Bethesda, id Software, Arkane, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games, Roundhouse Studios, ZeniMax Online Studio s and MachineGames.

In February, Microsoft also registered a subsidiary of Vault, among other things, in order to increase the chances of approval by the European Commission. As a result, Vault will be abolished and will become part of ZeniMax, which will be a subsidiary of Microsoft.
