The State Duma of the Russian Federation proposed the introduction of patents for those who receive income from the placement of video content and video broadcasts on the Internet.

Справедливая Россия предложила ввести патенты для стримеров

A similar initiative was made by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Anatoly Aksakov from the Fair Russia party.

According to the Moscow City News Agency, Aksakov explains the offer by the great popularity of services that allow you to post videos and broadcast. As part of the latter, streamers and bloggers often sell advertising time or ask for financial support. The problem is that taxes are usually not paid from these incomes, and advertising of goods and services is not regulated by law.

The introduction of patents and, moreover, the creation of a register of these persons, the possibility of which Aksakov also mentioned, is a controversial initiative. On the one hand, it deals a blow to the still emerging stream industry (in this case, in fact, one of the important channels for promoting games), which already faces numerous challenges. On the other hand, it is unclear why the common legal field for all should not affect them.

What do you think about the situation?
