By the end of the year, Russia will take 12th place in the world in terms of revenue from games, – follows from the publication of the company Newzoo, published recently.

Российский рынок игр заработает $1,2 млрд по итогам 2015

The publication itself is called “100 countries by gaming revenue”. It contains a list of countries grouped by the amount of their estimated income for the current year. The list also mentions the population of each region and its Internet population.

Russia is not included in the top ten countries in terms of revenue from the games, our Homeland is only on the 12th position. As for the top, it looks, according to Newzoo, as follows:

  • China
  • USA
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Germany
  • Great Britain
  • France
  • Canada
  • Spain
  • Italy

What we want to pay attention to from the whole top is the following number of points:

China will overtake the US in revenue this year, earning $22.1 billion against $21.9 billion. The difference is still small, but given the lifting of the ban on trading consoles in China, in the next couple of years the gap may seriously grow.

The revenues from the games in the UK and Germany are almost equal to each other. The difference is literally hundreds of millions of dollars: in the Foggy Albion, the games will earn $ 3.5 billion, in Germany – $ 3.6 million.

Russia, whose revenue from the games will amount to $1.2 billion, on the one hand, is already solidly ahead of Brazil with $1.4 billion, and on the other hand, Mexico is literally breathing down its neck with $1.19 billion.

From the less curious, but funny: Poland’s income is comparable to India’s income – about $ 400 million. And the income of Cyprus is comparable to the income of Angola – about $ 12 million.

By the way, at the end of 2014, Russia was in ninth place in the world in terms of revenue from iOS, and in tenth place in terms of revenue from Google Play. This, of course, is not gaming, but total revenue from applications, but it’s still appropriate.
