A series of Resident Evil films (“Resident Evil”) will be relaunched and 6 more films will be shot according to the game franchise, the Gizmondo edition reports with reference to the Variety web magazine.
According to Variety, information about the rebut of “Resident Evil” was confirmed by the head of the board of the German film company Constantin Film Martin Moszkowicz at the Cannes Film Festival. Constantin Film filmed all the previous parts of Resident Evil.
It is not yet reported which of the actors, directors and screenwriters will be involved in the relaunch of the series. The screenwriter and director of the original hexalogy “Resident Evil” Paul Anderson (Paul Anderson) is currently engaged in the adaptation of the video game Monster Hunter produced by the Japanese company Capcom.
The decision to restart the film franchise was preceded by good box office collections of the final part of the series. The global box office of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter totaled $307 million with a budget of $40 million. More than half of the fees ($160.4 million) were in China, according to the statistical resource The Numbers.
In total, the Resident Evil film franchise earned about $1.2 billion from 2002 to 2016 and became the highest-grossing adaptation of a video game for the big screen.
