The MicroProse company, known for the early Sid Meier’s Civilization, is returning to the industry. And she announced her future game title.

The company was founded by Sid Meier and Bill Stealy back in 1982. At some point, she began to experience problems with financing. Then Meyer left it in 1996 and founded Firaxis Games.

MicroProse tried to resell — unsuccessfully. Finally, at the beginning of the noughties, it was closed, and a number of its IP changed owners several times (including Atari).

Now MicroProse has a new owner — David Lagetti, one of the authors of the software for modeling open worlds TitanIM. Before him, Cybergun was the owner of the brand. But Laghetti bought him out and even managed to return Bill Styles to the updated company. His position is still unknown.

In its early years, MicroProse published two parts of Civilization strategies (Firaxis Games released the next ones), as well as several X-COM tactical strategies. She is also responsible for Transport Tycoon and many other classic games.

MicroProse is currently preparing the title Warbirds 2020. The official announcement of the game is waiting either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next. This is not the only planned project. According to 80lvl, MicroProse wants to gradually return to the release of strategies and simulators.
