Yesterday, Microsoft began shipping the HoloLens 2 AR headset. These mixed reality glasses are designed for corporate clients.

Recall that pre-orders of HoloLens 2 opened in February. The start of deliveries, according to VentureBeat, was scheduled for early autumn. Nevertheless, the company only confirmed the distribution of the first batch of glasses in the USA, France, Germany, Ireland, USA, Australia and New Zealand on November 7. In the future, the list of implementation countries will expand.

Second-generation HoloLens are distributed both at retail (for $3,500) and by subscription (for $125 per month). They are not intended for the mass user, but for developers in various fields, including medical and engineering.

Currently, Microsoft has no plans to release the headset to the wider market. But it is worth noting that HoloLens 2 is compatible with the original HoloLens headset, for which a number of applications and games were released.

Let’s add that the new headset supports the Unreal Engine 4 engine from Epic Games. It works on an ARM processor. A 2K resolution monitor is designed for each eye. In addition, the novelty has a built-in gaze and gesture tracking system and biometric authorization in Windows 10.
