A new website has appeared online designed to help independent game developers with self-publishing.
The resource is called IndieDevKit. Already now you can find three robots on it, with the help of which it is possible to estimate the budget for localization and development; a list of companies engaged in outsourcing; as well as purchase paid PR guides or order, again on a financial basis, an expert assessment of a press release or even a full-fledged marketing strategy.
Paying for most of the content, by the way, is confusing. This is, let’s say, somewhat strange for a resource that positions itself as a publication focused on indie developers. Prices also cannot be called “divine”. On the other hand, it is clear that the marketing strategy developed by professionals costs no less than the $12 thousand exposed by the publication.
By the way, about experts. The authors of the service were Leonie Manshanden and Tim Ponting.
Before moving to indie, Leonie was the head of marketing at Activision, marketing director at Midway, vice president of Irrational Games (she was responsible for the PR of BioShock Infinite), and now heads the agency SouthPaw Strategy.
Tim seems to be a less odious figure against her background. For a long time he was the editor of the British edition of PC Zone, for more than five years he was responsible for PR in the European office of Activision. For the last eight years, he has been running his own PR agency, whose website, by the way, has not been updated since 2013.
