Members of the development team of World of Warcraft and League of Legends have opened an independent studio Frostkeep Studios.

It was formed around Solomon Lee, Mat Milizia and Jeremy Wood, who had previously worked together for 15 years on World of Warcraft.

Over the past year, they have been assembling a team, which, among others, included Overwatch composer Neil Acree (Neal Acree). The company is headquartered in Irvine, California.

Frostkeep Studios’ first project will be a Rend survival simulator in a fantasy setting. The developers promise a combination of role-playing elements and game mechanics unusual for this genre. Once in the world of Rend, gamers will have to join one of the three factions and lead a team fight against monsters and rivals from other camps.

Rend will be available on Steam Early Access this spring.
